A South Korean man has died when a robot at his business mistook him for a box of vegetables. The man was taken to hospital, but assistance was of no avail. Local media report this.
The man, in his forties, was an employee of a robotics company. He was inspecting a robot when something went wrong. The robot thought it was lifting a box of vegetables, but grabbed the man instead. The robot pushed the man’s body onto a conveyor belt, crushing his face and chest. This was reported by the Korean news agency Yonhap.
The man was taken to hospital, but later died from his injuries.
According to Yonhap, the robot was responsible for moving boxes of peppers. The man was inspecting the robot’s sensors before testing. The test was originally supposed to take place on November 6, but it was postponed for two days because there were problems with the sensors.
The Donggoseong Export Agricultural Complex, the factory’s owner, issued a statement calling for a “safe and precise” system.
