From an unforgettable evening to a deadly tragedy: a 32-year-old man died during a The Weeknd concert. The concert took place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 14 and kicked off The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium tour.
The fan was sitting on an escalator railing when he lost his balance and fell about 12 meters – falling to his death. The victim has been identified as Hugo Sanchez. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from severe traumatic brain injury. The tragedy happened at the end of the show, just before 11 p.m. “The Inquirer” reports that the accident is said to have taken place at the time when the concert-goers were leaving the stadium. According to investigations, there is no suspicion of a crime.
New TV series from The Weeknd: “The Idol”
Also on July 18th, the teaser trailer for The Weeknd’s new drama television series The Idol was released. The singer himself is starring in his new project, which includes actress Lily-Rose Depp. The series is about an aspiring pop star who enters into a romantic relationship with a cult leader. The series was produced by Sam Levinson, who previously developed the hit series “Euphoria”. In the trailer itself, The Idol is dubbed “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.” Other actors include Jennie von Blackpink, Troye Sivan, Anne Heche and Melanie Liburd.
