In July 2023, a 33-year-old man from Ten Post worked for an employment agency in Meppel with a forged diploma in healthcare. “Bad,” the judge said, and sentenced the man to a 90 -hour work sentence and a month in prison sentence.

After an intake interview at a hotel restaurant in Hoogkerk, the handing in a (false) diploma and copy of his ID card, the man was able to work at Van Boeijen in Assen, GGZ Drenthe and the Trans. The man also consulted a declaration of behavior (VOG).

“I wonder if it was real,” said the public prosecutor. He could imagine that, because the suspect was previously convicted. The suspect had not appeared at the hearing.

The man was not on trial for a possible counterfeit of a VOG and he was not convicted of this. The employment agency got a breath of the falsification because they did not have a corresponding certificate.

Duo inquires were made. It turned out that the man had not obtained a diploma for the MBO 4 course in Personal guidance specific target groups. The document was false. “A lesson for the employment agency to check before a person is deployed”. She found it bad that an unskilled force was used for vulnerable people.

The suspect also did not appear at an earlier session in September. Then the case was arrested for extra investigation. The judge could do little sympathy for this attitude. She imposed the punishment demanded by the public prosecutor.
