Only 2017/18 higher expenses
The transfer of Matheus Nunes to Manchester City is fixed. The 25-year-old midfielder is leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers for what is reported to be a record €62m. The Portuguese, who only switched from Sporting Lisbon to the “Wolves” last year for 45 million euros, signed a contract with the “Citizens” until 2028. Wolverhampton will share ten percent of the profits if the sale is resold.
“I couldn’t turn down the chance to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches of all time, and with some of the best players in the world,” emphasized Nunes, who is one of the ten most expensive purchases in the club’s history at Man City, and Erling Haaland (21) ousted from this ranking.
The eleven-time Portugal international is the fourth signing this summer, in which €241.1 million has now been spent – only in the 2017/18 season did the treble winner spend more money on new players, at €317.5 million Hand. Currently, only three clubs worldwide have higher investments.
These deals are fixed! Deadline day transfers with Palmer, Bonucci & Co.
In return, ex-HSV professional Tommy Doyle is drawn from Man City to Wolverhampton. The 21-year-old will initially be loaned out for one season and could be committed with a purchase option, which is said to be around 5 million euros. It is the fourth loan in a row for the England Under-21 international and he has made seven appearances for the professionals at his regular club.
