An occupant of a car was arrested on the A67 motorway near Someren on Wednesday evening. Police had issued a stop sign after receiving a report of a suspicious situation, a spokesman said.
Before the arrest, ‘something’ was thrown out. The police searched until about 10.30am. Something has also been found, but ‘in the interest of the investigation’ has not yet been reported what it was.
It is not clear whether it is a weapon, drugs, money or something else. Nor is it known how suspicious the situation was or who the arrested man is. It was also said that a sniffer dog was used during the search, that the car was seized and that another occupant was not arrested.
After the arrest, officers searched for what had been thrown away. As a result, the right-hand lane of the A67 between the Someren exit and the Leenderheide junction was closed. This resulted in a traffic jam with a maximum of approximately 20 minutes extra travel time. The lane was reopened by 9am.
There was no question of a chase, as was said before.
