A 24-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening after someone reported that shots had been fired on the Quay in Roosendaal at around 7 p.m. No one was injured.
Officers, wearing bulletproof vests, found a casing on the street and cordoned off the Quay for a while. They then took various witness statements.
Ten people taken from home
They suspected that the suspect had entered a house above a restaurant on the Quay. The police removed ten people from this building for inspection. They were all initially handcuffed, but eventually everyone – except for the 24-year-old suspect – was released.
The home was searched, but no firearms were found. The suspect – whose official residence in the Netherlands is unknown – is being held for further investigation.
Violation of the Weapons Act
The man was taken to the police station. Police have reported on Twitter that he is suspected of violating the gun law. Bags were placed around the man’s arms so that they can be checked for traces later.
