Man arrested after chase, firearm found in car

A 22-year-old man from Waalwijk was arrested on Saturday night after a chase through Tilburg, Loon op Zand and Kaatsheuvel. A firearm was found in the car in which the Waalwijker was sitting.

Officers wanted to speak to the driver of the car around four o’clock at night because they saw that things were thrown out of the car in the Dirigentenlaan in Tilburg.

Crash
The motorist was given a stop sign, but the driver ignored this and drove away at high speed. After a pursuit by Loon op Zand, the driver lost control of the wheel on the Kinkenpolder in Kaatsheuvel and the car crashed. The driver and a passenger then took off. An agent chased them through the meadow towards the Dodenauweg, but eventually lost them.

Thanks to the police helicopter, the agents still managed to locate the 22-year-old suspect from Waalwijk. He was arrested and taken to the police station. The firearm was found during a search of the car. Officers searched the meadow and surrounding area, but the second suspect was not found.
