Millions of child pornography images were found on the computer of Louis H. from Oss. In May last year, the 76-year-old man ran into trouble when he had his PC repaired without thinking about it. The repairman was shocked and called the police. Louis was arrested and the investigation uncovered a shocking life of child pornography and abuse of a disabled girl in an institution. The public prosecutor demanded four years in prison and TBS.
When the police raided the suspect’s heavily contaminated home, child pornography was downloaded onto another computer. On the screen was a screensaver showing two naked young girls. A walkway had been made in the house between the junk. In the bedroom there was a heavily soiled bed with plasticized photos of young, naked girls everywhere.
Bond of trust
In various places, such as next to the TV, there were framed photos of a disabled girl with whom Louis had a special bond. He dated her between 1996 and 2001 at an institution in Rosmalen where he then had a Melkert job as a swimming pool manager. Striking detail: the pedophile swimming teacher Benno L. once gave swimming lessons in the same swimming pool and the two also knew each other.
Louis H. built up a bond of trust with the girl. Thanks to a kind of diary and many photos, law enforcement eventually gained insight into their relationship, because the girl herself was never able to tell.
And that relationship went far, as could be read. Louis started tickling and touching her when she was 14 or 15 years old and penetrated her with his fingers. He always described in detail how far he had gone with her and how she reacted to it. The disabled girl had the intellectual level of a 2 to 3 year old. Louis felt that he could judge, based on her behavior and body language, whether or not she wanted the sexual acts. And according to him she didn’t mind, because then she would have let him know.
‘Do not turn back’
Louis looked quite cheerful in the courtroom. He looked like a homeless person with messy gray hair and he reacted strangely to raping a disabled girl who can barely speak. He regretted it and was ashamed of it. “But, I can’t reverse it,” he said. “We are 25 years later. Mea culpa.”
Louis shrugged his shoulders about the millions of pictures. “They’re just going around on the internet. I don’t think it’s all as bad as it is said to be. I don’t think those models mind either.”
‘Beautiful pictures’
Louis was mainly looking for ‘beautiful pictures’, as he described it himself. He wasn’t looking for photos with penetration or S&M, but they had been downloaded and he had never thrown them away. “I’m a bit lazy myself,” he explained. “I never throw anything away. I got that from my mother. I just kept buying a bigger hard drive.”
The first photo from his collection dates from 1997 and the last from May 10, 2023, the day he was caught by chance. The experts therefore note that the risk of recurrence is very high. They recommend TBS with conditions, which means that Louis will receive a strict treatment program. After that, he will be under surveillance for the rest of his life and owning a PC seems out of the question.
‘Out-of-category quantity’
The public prosecutor listed all the facts again: abuse of a young, disabled girl by gaining her trust. And how he got closer and closer to her and went too far for the first time in March 1998 when she was 14 or 15. She also criticized the enormous collection of more than five million images of child pornography.
Despite his advanced age, she demanded a TBS with conditions, because Louis himself does not see how wrong he was doing and has his own ideas about the seriousness of the abuse and the possession of an ‘extra-category amount’ of child pornography. Before the TBS treatment starts, Louis would have to spend another four years in prison, the officer demanded.
The court will rule in this case on March 27.
