Man (49) wants to save his dog and drowns in the Maas

A 49-year-old man from Den Bosch drowned in the Maas in Den Bosch on Monday afternoon. According to the police, he went into the water because he wanted to save his dog.

Bystanders saw him go into the water around five o’clock and disappear. They then called the emergency services.

The fire brigade and the police have searched with two boats and divers, among other things. The man was also searched for from the shore. A trauma helicopter brought medical personnel, a police helicopter was deployed to find the man in the water.

Dog rescued
The victim was eventually found and taken out of the water and resuscitated. At a quarter past six, the police announced that the man had died. The dog has been saved.

There were many people on the Maasboulevard who saw how the man was taken out of the water.
