Man (43) arrested for the death of Hoofddorp tattoo artist Steve Mahakena

The police arrested a 43-year-old man this morning who is suspected of involvement in the death of Hoofddorp resident Steve Mahakena. It concerns a man from the municipality of Haarlemmermeer.

This was reported by the police this morning. The suspect is in full restriction, which means he can only have contact with his lawyer. His involvement in the death of the locally known tattoo artist is under further investigation. Due to the ongoing investigation, the police are not making any further announcements about the arrest.

On the morning of March 7, 48-year-old Steve Mahakena was found seriously injured in an apartment on Egholm in Hoofddorp. An attempt was made to resuscitate him, but he died shortly afterwards.

In the weeks after March 7, the detectives spent weeks investigating in and around the house where he was found. Mahakena herself did not live in that apartment.
