On Tuesday night, a 31-year-old man threatened a bus driver in Neukölln and tried to hijack the bus.

At around 2:50 a.m., the perpetrator boarded the N8 BVG bus at Hermannplatz, grabbed the bus driver’s neck and asked him to go to a hospital. He threatened him with a knife.

The attacker then took a seat behind the bus driver. At that time there were other passengers on the bus. Noticing the bus driver was continuing on his normal route, the 31-year-old threatened to kill him.

The driver alerted the police unnoticed via the control center. The bus driver stopped at the intersection of Brückenstrasse and Rungestrasse in Mitte, got out and instructed the police. The officers overpowered the suspect while he was still on the bus and arrested him. They threatened them with their guns. The knife was confiscated.

The 31-year-old was taken to the psychiatric ward of a hospital. Nobody was injured in the incident.
