The police have arrested a 26-year-old man for attacking a sushi restaurant on Hoofdweg in Hoofddorp. He did this in the early morning of September 11 last year with heavy fireworks.
There were no injuries, but the explosions severely damaged the facade of the restaurant. Images released by the police later showed the perpetrator: a man with a full-face helmet on his head arrived on a scooter around 6:15 a.m., got off and threw the fireworks towards the restaurant. After the explosions, he got back on his scooter and drove towards Badhoevedorp.
The suspect is from Haarlemmermeer, the police said. He was arrested last Monday and brought before the examining magistrate for two days. He decided that the man will remain under lock and key for the time being.
NH has asked the restaurant owner for comment on the developments, but he declined to comment.
