A 24-year-old man from Enkhuizen has been sentenced to a six-month suspended prison sentence for a rape on an industrial estate in the same city. In addition to this punishment, he must also undergo treatment at GGZ Noord-Holland Noord.
24-year-old Enkhuizer drove with the victim to an industrial estate in Enkhuizen under false pretenses on January 24, 2022. There he sexually assaulted the girl who, according to the court, was ‘mentally vulnerable’, even though she indicated that she did not want that.
Low penalty
The sentence is much lower than demanded by the Public Prosecution Service: the Public Prosecution Service wanted the Enkhuizer to serve sixteen months in prison, eight of which are conditional. The lower sentence is because the two had previously agreed to have sex and actually did so. There was also no violence by the 24-year-old man, which means the sentence is lower.
In addition to the suspended prison sentence and treatment at the mental health service, the man was also given two hundred hours of community service and a no-contact order by the court. The Enkhuizer must also pay compensation of 5,000 euros to the victim.
