Two cars collided on the A28 near Assen on Sunday morning around 5.15 am. A 20-year-old man from Meppel was seriously injured.
Two other people were unharmed, according to police. The accident happened between Assen-West and Assen-Noord in the direction of Tynaarlo. According to initial reports, one of the cars skidded. The driver reportedly crashed into the guardrail and came to a stop in the middle of the highway.
The driver of the other vehicle was unable to avoid a collision. Dense fog may have played a role. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
