A 20-year-old resident of Bergen fled on Thursday during a police check in Rucphen. He crossed a highway and was arrested in the bushes not much later.
The Dutch and Belgian police worked together during the control in the border area. During a check on a German rental car, officers found a 20-year-old man and a driver in the car.
During the inspection, the man suddenly started running, also crossing the highway. He was eventually arrested in the bushes near De Stok swimming pool. At that moment he insulted the officers who rushed over.
Family members
A relative of the Bergen resident, a 28-year-old man from Sint Maartensdijk in Zeeland, was also at the scene. He started to interfere with the arrest. The driver of the car, also a family member, attacked the officers.
She was kept at a distance with a baton, police wrote. The two men were arrested and the car was seized.
