Two bodies have been discovered on the coast of Mallorca. This is reported by the police of the Spanish island. It is not yet clear whether these are two missing Germans.
A 53-year-old father and his 19-year-old son boarded the Makan Angin, a sailing vessel registered in Frankfurt, on August 27. They departed from the island of Menorca and were on their way to Cala d’Or in Majorca, some 90 kilometers away. Bad weather was predicted, but they ignored that warning.
Lost contact
Relatives lost contact with them during the day and alerted authorities. A sea and air search turned up nothing.
Meanwhile, two bodies have been spotted. One of them has already been salvaged. A DNA analysis is being performed because the body could no longer be visually identified. The result of the analysis is expected within two to three weeks, the police said.
Wild sea
Passers-by discovered the first body on Sunday evening near the bay of Cala Morlanda. Because the sea was so rough, the police could not immediately recover the body. That only happened a day later, at the small bay of Cala Falcó.
The second body was seen on Monday evening in Porte Cristo, between Cala Morlanda and Cala Falcó. As conditions at sea were again not favorable, the police are still involved in the operation.
