Mallorca main suspect Sanil B. appealed against 7 years in prison

Hilversummer Sanil B, the main suspect in the violence in Mallorca last summer and the death of Carlo Heuvelman, is appealing against his seven-year prison sentence. His lawyer Peter Plasman confirms this.

Court where the Mallorca case is being heard – NH News

The young Hilversummer received the highest prison sentence of the group of nine Hilversum youths suspected of violence in Mallorca last Friday. The court convicts Sanil B. of the manslaughter of Carlo Heuvelman and the attempted manslaughter of two other victims.

The court only sees enough evidence in Sanil B. that he was involved in the manslaughter of Carlo Heuvelman. There would be at least one other perpetrator, but the court does not see enough evidence for their involvement in any of the other suspects.

Sanil B. reacted disappointed and emotionally to the hefty conviction on Friday. The young Hilversummer still maintains that he has nothing to do with the manslaughter of Carlo Heuvelman.

Doubts about evidence

Lawyer Plasman has had serious doubts about the evidence for some time and already hinted on Friday after the verdict that he saw several leads for an appeal.

It mainly concerns one of the most important witness statements and a DNA trace that was found a few weeks later on a shoe belonging to B. Plasman believes that the court draws conclusions from this too quickly. According to him, it is a miniscule trace that could also be from saliva. According to him, this could also jump from one person to another when shouting at each other, without there being any violence.

Sanil B. is not the only one to appeal against his sentence. Certainly another suspect has already announced that he is doing so.
