Malik Willis goes from being a siding to a threat to Will Levis

The Will Levis draft drama was one of the big topics in the NFL talent picks at the end of April. Ultimately, the Kentucky quarterback ended up with the Tennessee Titans and was considered a beacon of hope there. Now, however, a competitor seems to be making Levis look bad, who was already on the sidelines with the Titans.

As Titans insider Jim Wyatt reports, Levis is currently being “outperformed” by Malik Willis. Willis, who Wyatt reports is said to have improved significantly compared to his rookie season, made a better impression than Levis in the training activities.

He had already had his problems in the OTAs in the early phase of the offseason, but encouraged himself:

“I know tomorrow and the day after I’ll have a chance to show it again. That’s why I’m not going to beat myself up. High standards are the be-all and end-all, but they’re not there to beat yourself up. It’s about to motivate you to go out and get the best out of yourself,” Levis said combatively at the time.

Meanwhile, despite performing well in practice, Wyatt says Malik Willis remains unsure of his roster spot with the Titans. At the latest since the draft and the signing of Levis, last year’s third-round pick in Tennessee was on the sidelines.

Malik Willis didn’t take his chance in the NFL

Willis had had to settle for the back-up role last season but was thrown in at the deep end after an injury to Ryan Tannehill. In three starts, however, he failed to complete 100 yards passing. He also made three interceptions and no touchdown.

The horror stats even prompted the Titans to relegate Willis to the bench late in the season and pin their hopes on Josh Dobbs, whom they signed from the Lions practice squad to replace Willis.

Just like the signing of Will Levis, the closing stages of last season clearly show how little trust in Malik Willis really is.

The Titans also missed the playoffs with Josh Dobbs. Dobbs played solidly in the passing game, but nothing more. With a fumble shortly before the end of the last game against the Jaguars, he also had a share in the 16:20 defeat.
