Male body found in the Spuikom in Ostend

At around 5:30 pm, the federal police were informed that there was a body in the water at the Spuikom, between Ostend and Bredene. How the man ended up in the water is still under investigation. The Federal Police did say that the man had already died when the emergency services arrived on the scene.

The shipping police and the fire brigade removed the lifeless body from the water. The public prosecutor’s office will release more information later when the precise circumstances are known.
