AFC has returned to the top of the second division thanks to a three-pointer on a visit to Spakenburg. The team of coach Uli Landvreugd won 2-1 last night.
Raily Ignacio thought he would give the team from Amsterdam the lead after a few minutes, but his goal was disallowed due to offside. AFC then escaped unscathed. Wimilio Vink shot the ball from about forty meters onto the crossbar. After a quarter of an hour, Ignacio gave the visitors a lead: 0-1.
Spakenburg had another great chance to score before halftime, but Vink hit the crossbar again. On the other hand, Thomas Verhaar gave his team a 0-2 lead halfway through the second half. Fifteen minutes before the end, Lowie van Zundert made the connection goal and AFC had to squeeze a lot in the final phase. However, thanks to a good intervention by goalkeeper Patrick Zonneveld, AFC secured the victory.
The team from Amsterdam climbed to third place in the second division with 41 points from 24 games. The top match against number two Royal HFC will follow next Saturday, which currently has four points more.
