The left lane of the A2 from Maastricht to Eindhoven was closed early Monday morning for an hour and a half after an accident near Valkenswaard. Two trucks were involved around a quarter past six. This led to serious problems on the road.
The lane closure led to 11 kilometers of traffic jam from Nederweert around 7:30 am. The ANWB warned of a one and a half hour delay.
Detour
Due to all the problems on the road, a diversion was put in place. Traffic in the direction of Eindhoven was advised to drive over Venlo and to take the A73 and A67. Rijkswaterstaat took into account that the closed lane could not be released before half past eight, but this was already possible at a quarter to eight.
How the accident could have happened is under investigation.
Another accident
An accident also happened on the A2 from Den Bosch to Utrecht on Monday morning around a quarter past six, near Kerkdriel. The right lane was closed here. Around half past six this led to a six kilometer traffic jam from the exit Veghel, good for a twenty minute delay. By seven o’clock the problems here were largely a thing of the past.
