There will be a major power failure in the vicinity of Almkerk, Nieuwendijk, Sleeuwijk, Werkendam and Woudrichem on Friday evening. This is due to a problem in the high-voltage grid, probably due to bad weather. 7771 Enexis customers were affected by the outage.
“A connection has failed between Geertruidenberg and the Biesbosch,” explains a TenneT spokesperson. Part of the connection to the Amer power station has also been lost, probably due to bad weather. Lightning may have struck, but that has yet to be investigated.”
Engineers are on their way to see what exactly is going on and how it can be solved. According to Enexis, part of the problem has now been solved. The outage is expected to be resolved around 9:45 p.m.

TenneT transports the electricity to the substation via the high-voltage grid. Enexis ensures that the electricity from there reaches homes and businesses.
