On the Nekkeveldweg in Zeewolde, the top of a windmill, including the rotor, has been destroyed. According to a spokesperson for the Flevoland and Gooi en Vechtstreek Security Region, it seems very likely that the strong wind on site has caused the mill to snap.
No one was injured.
The debris is scattered over several hundred meters. The road is closed to through traffic. According to the spokesperson, the windmills are “of a somewhat older type”. It is still unclear whether the windmill showed defects.
The mill stood in a row with other windmills. “They are currently being investigated,” said the spokesperson.
