A major fire broke out in a parking garage under an apartment complex in Den Bosch on Wednesday morning. Dozens of cars are on fire. 86 apartments in Velderwoude Castle in the Haverleij residential area have been evacuated, a spokesperson for the Brabant-Noord Safety Region reported to the ANP news agency.
The fire was caused by a car driving through a wall in the garage. According to Omroep Brabant, the driver of the car unwell – a spokesperson for the emergency services cannot confirm this. The person was resuscitated and taken away alive by air ambulance.
Evacuated residents of the apartment complex waited outside for a while and were then taken to a shelter location, which was urgently arranged due to the cold. The fire produces a lot of black smoke; an NL-Alert warns people in the area to stay away from smoke. The heavy smoke development has now stopped due to the efforts of the fire brigade.
