A major fire broke out at the Giestee in Dalen this evening. The flames rose meters high from a farmhouse and an adjacent barn.
The fire and smoke could be seen right along the N34. Fire brigades from Emmen, Schoonebeek, Hoogeveen and Sleen, among others, were called to extinguish the fire.
Despite the fire-fighting efforts, the shed must be considered lost. According to Duty Officer Cees Bults, the farm seems to be doing better.
One person was taken to hospital with minor burns.
