In the Gelderland village of Beesd, a very large fire raged on an industrial estate on the Industrieweg on Thursday evening. The nearby A2 between Culemborg and Geldermalsen was closed in both directions due to smoke development. The fire is now under control.
According to the Gelderlander The fire raged at an auto parts company. Many fire departments came out to extinguish the fire. The fire brigade received a first report about the fire around 8.45 pm.
The fire released many thick, black clouds of smoke. The smoke moved southwest over Beesd. Because there may be gas bottles in the property, people were kept 200 meters away. An explosion was also heard earlier in the evening.
Residents were advised to stay indoors. The fire is under control, but smoke may still be released. The fire brigade will continue to extinguish the fire for the next few hours.
