Major fire at facade builder in Oirschot, part of the building goes up in flames

There is a major fire at the WVH Gevelprojecten company at De Scheper in Oirschot. The flames came out of the roof and facade during the night from Monday to Tuesday. After arrival, the fire brigade quickly scaled up to a very large fire. Part of the business is considered lost.

The first report of the fire was made around ten to half past one. The office area at the front of the building was completely on fire. The fire brigade is trying to shield the factory at the back of the building.

“It looks like that will work. But we have to consider the front part of the building as lost,” said a spokesperson for the fire brigade.

The fire brigade is present with four fire engines and two aerial platforms. The fire also caused heavy black smoke. A hazardous substances advisor arrived on site, as did a measuring team.

It is still unclear how the fire started. “The fire brigade is now focusing on fighting the fire,” the spokesperson said.

The company on the De Scheper industrial estate specializes in facade construction and facade finishing.
