Northeast Papua New Guinea was hit by a magnitude 7.6 earthquake on Sunday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said. The quake was at a depth of 61 kilometers, about 67 kilometers east of the city of Kainantu, in a sparsely populated area.
