There are now 3,531 reception places for refugee Ukrainians available throughout Brabant, but the differences between the three Security Regions are large. For example, almost all reception places in Central and West Brabant are filled, while in Southeast Brabant only a quarter of the beds are used.
A large influx of Ukrainian refugees is expected in the near future, so the municipalities are pulling out all the stops. Within a week, the number of occupied shelters in our province has already doubled.
In the Brabant-Southeast Security Region, 25.8 percent of the reception places are currently filled, that is 759 people. According to the Brabant-North Safety Region, about 70 percent of the reception places there are occupied. The Central and West Brabant Security Region is even almost full: 84 percent of the reception places there are currently in use. The Safety Regions do not know why the differences between municipalities are so great.
Two people received in Alphen-Chaam
It is mainly the large cities, such as Eindhoven and Breda, where there is a lot of space to receive refugee Ukrainians. But it is expected that the reception places will shift more to villages.
Nevertheless, the differences between municipalities are large. There are also municipalities where hardly any people are being cared for, such as in Alphen-Chaam. The inhabitants of Alphen-Chaam are surprised about this:
