Major differences between building permit costs in Drenthe

To Build a house? This requires a permit and costs money. But how much you have to pay varies considerably per municipality in Drenthe. These are margins of thousands of euros.

Vereniging Eigen Huis (VEH) investigated the construction fees, or the costs for processing a permit application. Each municipality determines the price tag attached to such a permit each year and is therefore allowed to increase or decrease the empty costs. And that means that the costs vary considerably from municipality to municipality.

The absolute frontrunner is Assen, where the costs for a permit for the construction of a new home rose by almost 10 percent. Coevorden follows at a great distance, with more than 3 percent. In Noordenveld, Tynaarlo, Westerveld, Meppel, De Wolden and Hoogeveen, there was no increase at all compared to 2021.

Assen is not only the biggest increase, it is also the most expensive municipality in Drenthe for a building permit. Residents pay the ‘top price’: the costs are more than 7,800 euros, while buyers in the adjacent central Drenthe have to pay around 4,300 euros.
