Bundesliga soccer team FSV Mainz 05 also won its second pre-season test match in a befitting manner.
Coach Bo Svensson’s team won the regional league promoted TuS Koblenz 6-1 (5-1) on Friday evening. A week earlier, the Rheinhessen had warmed up at the lower-class SG Gensingen Grolsheim (16:0).
In a brisk early phase, the underdog took the lead through Yusupha Sawaneh (2nd) with the friendly help of the Mainz back line, but Aymen Barkok (5th) and David Mamutovic (7th) turned the game around immediately. As a result, the 05ers screwed up the result. The other goals were scored by Ludovic Ajorque (17th/39th) with a penalty kick and penalty kick, Brajan Gruda (43rd) and Delano Burgzorg (74th).
Mainz played with black ribbons due to the death of club legend Gerhard Bopp, the FSV record scorer died on Friday morning at the age of 74. Coach Svensson changed completely at half-time, the newcomers Sepp van den Berg and Tom Krauß were not yet in the squad.
