Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 is worried about Marcus Ingvartsen playing ahead of the away game at 1. FC Köln.
The attacker has not yet been able to train this week because of a strain, said coach Bo Svensson: “We thought it wasn’t enough. But the way things have developed, the situation looks much better. There is hope, he himself is positive.”
A logical alternative would be Karim Onisiwo, who celebrated his comeback with a short assignment last week after an injury. The Austrian is “an option right from the start. He’s 100 percent again and fully operational,” emphasized Svensson.
On Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky) he expects “an emotional game in front of an atmospheric backdrop. The people of Cologne play very positive football and are looking for a way forward. We have to use our strengths to counteract this.”
