Mainz (dpa) – The Mainz head coach Bo Svensson fears central departures in his defensive line this summer.
In an interview with the newspapers of the VRM Group, when asked about Moussa Niakhaté and Jeremiah St. Juste, the Dane said: “It can be that both go. It can also be that one stays. To believe that both stay , is very optimistic.” Everyone can see the qualities of 26-year-old French captain Niakhaté and 25-year-old Dutchman St. Juste.
“They’re in their best footballer age. They still have a year on their contract and you don’t go into a year with players like that without either extending them or going somewhere else. That’s the status,” said Svensson, who both “absolutely called “leader”. The 42-year-old isn’t worried about not being able to replace the duo should the worst come to the worst. “Nobody has to worry that we’re just lying around and not preparing for every eventuality,” said Svensson.
