Switch to Series B
FSV Mainz 05 lets Marlon Mustapha move to Italy. As the “zero fives” reported, the 22-year-old center forward is joining Serie B club Como 1907. Born in Vienna, he moved to Mainz in 2018 and initially played for the U19s before he was called to the pros. Interrupted by a loan to Admira Wacker, Mustapha, whose contract was originally valid until 2024, played six games for the Rheinhessen.
“Marlon approached us with the desire to change as he would like more match practice at this stage of his career. Due to the current competitive situation in our attack, it’s not easy for him to come up with the appropriate minutes. Together with Como 1907, a solution was found that also suits us economically. We wish Marlon all the best for the new challenge in Italy,” said sporting director Martin Schmidt. The club did not say anything about the modalities of the transfer. As the “Picture” reported, Mainz will receive a fee of 900,000 euros for the Austrian with performance-related bonuses. In addition, a resale participation has been secured.
