Mainz 05: David Mamutovic signs his first professional contract at the age of 23

Still without a Bundesliga appearance

1. FSV Mainz 05 has awarded 23-year-old David Mamutovic a professional contract after the first squad nominations. At the same time, the Rheinhessen team is binding the former Leverkusen pupil, who came to the “Zero Fives” from Rot Weiss Ahlen last year, for another year until 2025.

Mamutovic is continuing his unusual development. The winger, who left Bayer 04 at the age of 16, made the jump to the men’s division at SV Bergisch Gladbach. After 45 games with the local regional league team, he went to Ahlen for a year, from where he was drawn to the Mainz reserves with 14 goals in 33 fourth division games. In the Bundesliga team, Mamutovic has sat on the bench on eleven match days so far without playing.

“Since moving to Mainz 05, David has made great development and has put in good performances in the U23 for the training and matchday squad of the professionals. He has truly earned his first professional player contract,” explained sports director Martin Schmidt.
