Maïlys’s father testifies: “He had the look of a murderer”

Yesterday Maïlys’ mother already gave a haunting testimony. For example, she talked about the problems her daughter had during puberty and the bad influence that Alexander D. exerted on her. That adolescent phase was again discussed today during the testimony of Maïlys’ father.

Rebellious

“She had been given a laptop for her solemn communion. She then changed from a fantastic little doll girl to a closed girl. She chatted a lot, watched YouTube videos, she was influenced in this way and also got to know people…”, begins Frédéric Descamps’ story. “Between the age of 12 and 14, I knew Maïlys as a rebellious. Her behavior was sometimes intolerable. She had twists in her head that we couldn’t follow.”

One day they even took the latch of her bedroom door to protect her. “We knew she was doing things we weren’t allowed to see. Just to be sure, for the safety of Maïlys, we then took the latch off so we could always get in.”

First acquaintance: “Not my friend”

Maïlys’s father also talks about the first acquaintance with his daughter’s boyfriend at the time. “Alexander only talked about bodybuilding. We had no common ground. The conversation quickly fell silent. I already experienced the conversation as someone who doesn’t care about the rest.”

“When he put eight hamburgers in the microwave for himself, I could already see he wasn’t going to be my best friend. I was worried.”

Look of a killer

The dark side of D. has not gone unnoticed either. “I had to pick up Maïlys after work, but we drove around for an hour to find her. When we saw her, she was standing against a wall with D. completely over her, so she couldn’t leave,” says Frédéric. “I have to be honest, I was scared then. But it was my job to get Maïlys to safety.”

“I’ll never forget his look. It was a look I’ve never seen before. Sorry, but that was the look of a murderer back then.” At that moment, Frédéric Descamps realized that it is best not to enter into a discussion with D..
