Magdeburg takes revenge on Würzburg, football | 3rd League – MDR – Regional

The FCM, on the other hand, had problems, but used their first chance to make it 1-0. Connor Krempicki had used Baris Atik in the penalty area and the top scorer only had to push in from the penalty spot (22′). The lead gave the people from the Elbe, who now had a lot of ball possession, more security. But the Würzburg team remained dangerous on the counterattack and almost equalized with a header from substitute Pouriés shortly before the break (45+3).

FCM strong offensively, but vulnerable defensively

In the second round it got rich in goals. Atik made it 2-0 shortly after the restart after a pass from Amara Condé. The 3:0 by Florian Kath in the 70th minute after a one-two with Atik seemed to be the preliminary decision, since Magdeburg was extremely dominant in this phase. But a set piece that Tobias Kraulich headed into the FCM goal made it exciting again (75′). Even Jason Ceka’s 4:1 after a nice combination wasn’t the famous cover, as Marvin Pourié immediately scored the second Würzburg goal. In added time, Marco Hausjell missed the huge chance to make it 3:4.

After that it was over and the 20th Magdeburg win of the season was perfect. The FCM has now been unbeaten for 14 games, next weekend Hallesche FC are waiting in the Saxony-Anhalt duel.

That’s what the coaches said

Christian Titz (Magdeburg): “We didn’t have our best day today. We created a lot of chances going forward and scored the goals at the right time, but we were very sloppy in moving backwards, in defending the rest of the space and in tackling and we got it one or the other possibility was allowed. At the moment I’m happy that we scored so well. We saw again today how difficult it is with the two goals we conceded, which annoys us.”

Ralf Santelli (Würzburg): “We managed relatively well up to the 29th minute. If someone doesn’t pay attention in the backcourt, then you’re 0-1 down and it will be difficult. We were a bit closed in the second half later more aggressive and determined. If we had scored the connecting goal earlier, the goals we conceded would not have come either. We had our chances, but we were also lucky that we didn’t lose further.”
