Magdeburg continues its winning streak in the Champions League

Defending champions SC Magdeburg continued their successful run and clinched their next victory in the Handball Champions League. At the French top club Montpellier HB, coach Bennet Wiegert’s team prevailed on Wednesday evening in a hard-fought game despite being behind at halftime with 28:25 (12:14). This meant that Magdeburg won across all competitions for the eighth time in a row, and the SC has now been unbeaten in nine competitive games.

After an early 3-0 deficit, the guests fought back and took the front for the first time after just under 13 minutes. From then on, the game remained balanced, and despite several leadership changes, no team was able to gain a decisive lead until deep into the second half.

The best thrower on the Magdeburg side was Matthias Musche with six goals, the most dangerous player for the hosts was the Swede Sebastian Karlsson (9). With four wins from six games, the SCM consolidated fourth place in the eight-team Group B, two points behind leaders FC Barcelona.
