Berlin (AP) – Felix Magath wants to make Hertha BSC fit in a training camp for the relegation battle in the Bundesliga. The Berliners will move into quarters in Harsewinkel near Bielefeld with their new coach from March 29th.
There the 68-year-old prepares the team for the game at Bayer Leverkusen on the following Saturday. Magath had already announced when he was presented as Hertha coach almost two weeks ago that such a measure was conceivable.
In the first game under Magath, Hertha ended a nine-game winless streak with a 3-0 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. However, the coach had to watch the game from the hotel due to a corona infection. Magath returned to the training ground on Thursday. The Hertha pros are free this weekend.
The Berliners are seven games before the end of the season in relegation place 16. After the game in Leverkusen, Hertha will face the derby against 1. FC Union on April 9th. Then there are the games at FC Augsburg (April 23), against VfB Stuttgart (April 24) and at Arminia Bielefeld (April 30) against three direct competitors in the relegation battle.
