For the first time, a one-woman show can be expected, with only some live musicians supporting.
Before Madonna’s “Celebration Tour” gets started, her concert planner and producer Stuart Price commented on how the gigs will go.
Over 40 songs can be expected live, Price told BBC News. These tracks would represent a kind of “documentation of her extensive career”. Madonna plans to dig deep into her back catalog – although he emphasized that the “biggest hit” doesn’t necessarily have to be a song as such, but could also be a feature of a special “wardrobe, a video or even a statement”. .
By this he also meant that she made “many strong live moments” possible by “allowing her music to intersect with something emotional.” With topics that would move society. She creates “incredibly powerful” moments by “re-contextualizing” her tracks and finding ways to take strong, original messages and see how they resonate in our current times.
For the first time in her career, the 65-year-old US singer would not be accompanied on stage by a permanent band. Price, who also served as producer on Madonna’s 2005 album CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR, added: “There are live musicians performing at various points throughout the show. But we realized that the original songs are our real stars. They can’t be replicated and they can’t be replicated, so we decided to just make it our own.”
Madonna would now be fit and healthy again, as Stuart Price continues: “The person who walks on stage looks incredible, sounds incredible and performs incredible.”
