Macron wins against Le Pen!

It is the most important election in Europe this year! According to the first projection (TF1), French President Emmanuel Macron (44) is 58 percent ahead of Marine Le Pen (42 percent).

In “Arte” Macron even comes to 58.2 and Le Pen to 41.8 percent.

Not all the votes have been counted yet, the polling stations in the big cities have only just closed. 35 percent of those entitled to vote stayed at home. Nevertheless, the trend is clear.

This means that there will be no quake on the scale of the Trump election in the USA or the Brexit referendum in Great Britain in 2016, although Le Pen has come closer to an election victory for her party than ever before.

There is relief in the traffic light coalition. “Certainly, I’m not the only one who takes a load off my mind,” wrote Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir (56, Greens). “Thank God,” tweeted FDP MP Johannes Vogel (39). SPD leader Saskia Esken (60): “I dance!”

In Brussels, too, there is great joy that Europe-friendly Macron has won. “We can count on France for 5 more years,” writes EU Council President Charles Michel (46).
