Macron wants to fight for Mbappé whereabouts

According to French media reports, French President Emmanuel Macron wants to get involved in the affair amidst the rumors of a possible departure from star footballer Kylian Mbappé at Paris Saint-Germain.

When asked by a fan whether Mbappé would stay with PSG, Macron replied: “I don’t have any exclusive news, but I will try to encourage it.”

A letter from Mbappé to the PSG club bosses, in which he wrote that he did not want to use an option to extend after the next season, apparently caused a stir.

Even a farewell this summer is therefore no longer out of the question, because only in this transfer period would a change bring the French champion a transfer fee. The Spanish record champions Real Madrid in particular are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

The 2018 world champion had already spoken to Macron when Mbappé was about an extension at PSG last year. In an interview at the time, Macron assured that he would not interfere in transfers.

He advised Mbappé to stay in France. When a President is asked in a friendly and informal manner, it is his job to defend the country.
