Macron defends against accusations in UberFiles: “Thousands of jobs created” | Abroad

The French head of state has come under fire for the publication of the UberFiles. Leaked documents show that as economy minister (2014-2016), Macron had very close contacts with Uber. He is said to have made an effort to remove obstacles for the company and to relax rules. The French newspaper ‘Le Monde’ speaks of a secret deal.

On the sidelines of a visit to the company STMicroelectronics, in the French department of Isère, Macron reacted to the revelations on Tuesday. “I am very proud,” it sounds. “It is very difficult to create jobs without entrepreneurs or enterprises.”

“I would do it again tomorrow and the day after,” the president continues. “But it creates a kind of atmosphere where it’s considered bad to see business leaders, especially the foreign ones.”
