Maccabi Haifa champion again in Israel

Maccabi Haifa has won the Israeli soccer championship for the third time in a row.

The defending champion made the 15th title in the club’s history perfect on the penultimate matchday with a 5-1 (1-1) win at Maccabi Netanya. Only Maccabi Tel Aviv was more successful with 23 championships.

Haifa will thus take part in the first qualifying round for the Champions League next season. Last season, Maccabi became the first Israeli club to qualify for the group stage, beating Juventus there but falling by just three points.
