A 31-year-old man from Maastricht has to go to jail for a year for drug trafficking and being in possession of drugs.

That was decided by the judge on Wednesday during a summary trial. The Public Prosecution Service had also demanded a 12-month unconditional prison sentence. During the trial, the suspect was silent in all languages.

The Maastricht resident ran into the light on January 12. Agents saw a deal between the man and a Belgian customer, and intervened. The drug dealer was arrested. It is not known exactly where this happened.

In addition, about 400 grams of hard drugs were found in his house, including seals and a scale that were used for the drug trade. Reading the suspect’s phone also made it clear that he was involved in drug trafficking. The man would have done that over a period of five months.

Incidentally, the drug dealer was no stranger to the police and the judiciary.
