“I once looked after two sheep for about eight weeks,” said Van Rossem. He did not state the context of this striking commission. “They are such conniving beasts. They always tried to bite my fingers and they looked with those scary eyes. You saw them thinking: he thinks we can’t and don’t know anything, but woe betide if we get hold of him.”
