An incredible blunder: Maarten van Rossem reveals the gender of the next winner of De Slimste Mens. The NPO is not amused and immediately cut the clip.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, Özcan Akyol had none other than Maarten van Rossem as a guest in his program on NPO Radio 1. The reason? The new season of De Slimste Mens will start soon. Of course the recordings are already done. “A surprise winner?” the host asks him.
Maarten slips up
Maarten’s answer that follows is extremely clumsy: “Ehh, I hadn’t put my money on him. I hadn’t bet any money on it at all, but I thought it was an unexpected winner.”
A somewhat surprised Özcan: “You did give away the gender.”
Maarten: “Yes, I understand that.”
Özcan cynically: “But nobody listens anyway.”
Maarten: “I assume that you will not immediately call the authorities.”
