Maajussi-Kalle and Niina are getting ready for their wedding full of excitement – “Everything just gets better all the time”

Kalle and Niina, who found each other in the Maajussille morsia program a couple of years ago, are celebrating their wedding at their own farm.

Kalle Hanhijärvi, 30, decided to propose more than a year ago, on the eleventh of June. At that time, he had been dating for exactly one year Niina Wunsch28, with.

The previous year, on the same day, the farm week of the Maajussille bride program ended at Kalle’s farm in Sastamala. Kalle had officially chosen Niina, even though the falling in love had already happened on a speed date in Naantali and even the first kiss had been exchanged in front of the television cameras in the middle of filming.

A man on his knees

The proposal, however, had to go a little early because of the bride.

– Kalle had planned to bring me breakfast in bed, but all we could see from our place was the taillights when he woke up, Niina laughs.

Niina had also decided to organize a luxury breakfast in honor of the anniversary and went to the store early in the morning to get offers.

After returning, Niina was surprised when Kalle was behaving strangely. Then music started playing in the hall and the next thing the man was already on his knees.

– It made me cry and of course I answered yes, Niina says.

Breakfast ideas changed to brunch in the old parsonage.

Warm welcome

Even in the first meeting of the Maajussille morsia program at Naantali’s speed dating, the air was thick with Cupid’s arrows. All the way to the home sofa, it was said that Niina and Kalle would become a couple.

After the farm week, Niina stayed in Sastamala for a couple of days.

At that time, he still lived in Kempelee, completed his studies as a music teacher in Oulu and worked in a cinema. The beginning of the relationship went smoothly even after a distance of five hundred kilometers.

By Christmas, however, Niina’s green plants had already found their place at Kalle’s farm, the last moving load arrived in Sastamala in January.

– I fell in love with the place immediately and moving to Sastamala felt really natural, says Niina.

The settling in was also helped by the fact that the woman who graduated as a teacher was immediately able to find a job. He also started taking piano lessons.

Anyway, Niina has settled down smoothly.

– I was warned in advance about the introverted locals. But what else! People have been really warm. And I’ve just gone for a hug myself.

– Murrek has been easy to adopt, because both here and in Kempelee it is equally wide, Niina describes.

Renovation and decoration

At the start of the farm week, Maajussi’s house was still under renovation. The plumber was installing the sink in the bathroom as the bride-to-be was about to turn into the yard. The renovation has continued with Niina.

– The arrangement of the furniture also changes a lot. We have some old furniture from the courtyard building, and there might appear some rugs and rocking chairs for use at any time, Kalle laughs at Niina’s decorating enthusiasm.

Kalle’s parents moved from the house to the church village only a couple of years ago. The young couple has arranged places to their liking, but of course not everything has been modernized. The spirit of the house built in the 1910s is maintained.

– Now the house is just right for the two of us, even though it is big. The intention was to make more rooms for the family in the open plan, Kalle says.

A plowing bride

In Niina, Kalle got not only a partner but also a brisk helper for his farm comprising 50 hectares of fields and 100 hectares of forest. The bride has not hesitated to jump behind the wheel of a tractor.

This spring, the woman was already hoeing the fields smoothly while Kalle pulled the seed drill. In the winter, Niina really enjoyed snow work.

– I could have been plowing at four or five, and then I threw Kalle to work at six, says the bride.

The small woman wasn’t scared by the big plow equipment, on the contrary.

– After the snow closed, it was revealed that the flower beds had taken a bit of a hit, Niina laughs.

– I don’t have to do anything here anymore, the ground rabbit acknowledges.

Business couple

In addition to farm work, Kalle has a day job as a product development engineer in Vammala.

The couple is also employed by a company providing party, meeting and accommodation services belonging to the premises. It focuses on the lands of Kalle’s former grandmother, where the history of the family can be found since the 17th century.

Kalle is the 11th owner of the estate in the directly descending generation.

– We are expanding the party business in particular. Next summer’s weekends are already booked, the couple says in Virri’s farm’s old chicken house, in the current party loft.

There has been enough work for this year as well, to such an extent that Niina did no more substitutes as a teacher in the spring. The solution has been suitable to the extent that Niina, who suffers from CPVT heart disease and autoimmune diseases, sniffs out children’s flu in class. With basic diseases, they easily develop into pneumonia.

Work together

The woodworking couple takes on the chores with joy. The jobs of an engineer, a teacher, a farmer and a party venue entrepreneur overlap, and the little free time is not a problem.

– Besides, it’s nice to do the work together. We can even compete among ourselves, in which case the work will be done quickly, says Niina.

A practical example of this was given on Instagram in the spring, when the couple demonstrated how to upholster the chairs of the party space. Kalle got through his own job faster, but he put the hoods on the wrong side when jumping.

A country wedding

Kalle and Niina’s wedding will be danced at Virri’s farm again this summer.

For Maajussi, the theme of the bride will be somewhat present, but in general, the party of more than a hundred guests is kept simple and clear. For example, decorations are not peppered, but the party space is filled with flowers.

– A local caterer will handle the catering, a band will come from Helsinki and a photographer from Tampere. The guest list includes both relatives and friends equally, the couple says.

– A rather traditional country wedding. And no stress has been taken from the arrangements. As an engineer, Kalle has of course made everything into an Excel table, Niina laughs.

Official hostess

In practice, getting married doesn’t change anything, but according to the couple, it strengthens their common path and dreams for the future.

– I get to call Niina my wife and we become a host couple, Kalle embraces a concrete change.

– And I will also officially become a hostess! the country’s bride continues.

On the wedding night, the newlyweds move half a kilometer away from the party house to their own home.

After the autumn threshing, there is a honeymoon to the north.

– Two years have gone very quickly. But it still feels like we’ve always known each other, says Niina.

He himself wonders how everything has turned out so naturally.

– Of course we know the realities of life and that something always comes up, but we haven’t even managed to get a proper fight going. We somehow have the same mind.

– It feels like everything just gets better all the time. Crazy! That amount.
