The PP has found in the Valencia bullring that shot of adrenaline that it was looking for to face the last days of the campaign. In view of more than 10,000 attendees (all Valencians, according to the organization), the popular ones have given themselves a real mass bath and they have achieved that image of absolute fullness with which to project the sensation of change of cycle before the 28M. A change that they say they are touching with their fingers but for which they have asked to concentrate the vote around the PP, calling for the useful vote left and right.
The national president himself, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has started his speech by thanking the regional leadership for the “mobilizing effort” and the “courage” to assume the challenge of refilling the flat, with express mention of Carlos Mazón. “Supposes an injection of morale for the remainder of the campaign“, has celebrated the Galician.
When demanding this unification of support in the PP (which had also been requested in previous interventions by both Mazón and Maria Jose Catala), Feijóo has indicated the importance of both “voting” and “getting the vote right”, and has appealed directly to Vox and Cs voters.
Also from the PSOE. But the great novelty are the direct mentions of liberals and ultra-rightists, whose voters had never explicitly asked for the vote as now, they remember from Feijóo’s environment.
“There are liberal and centrist voters who were excited about the Ciudadanos project. There are Vox voters who want strong governments and committed to our country. There are socialists who are ashamed of the country’s course and the fraudulent use of the party. To all those Spaniards, I come to ask for the opportunity to recover good politics, that we unite the vote around the PP to make good politics and change possible in the Valencian Community and in Spain. May your vote not serve to endorse Sánchez and Puig“.
The square as a barometer
Feijóo has tried to contain in a certain way the euphoria that was breathed in the square asking his bases “not to take anything for granted.” Therefore, although he has admitted that “it smells of change”, he has stressed that “it is not worth betting on any option” and has considered “essential” to “concentrate the vote in the PP”.
In any case, he has taken advantage of the PP’s mobilization capacity, very different from that of 2019, which he has considered to show the “illusion” for a “calm and sensible change”. “In this act there are people who did not vote for the PP in 2019”, he pointed out, causing a buzz in the stands. “If you had all voted for us…”.
And he has compared it with that of the PSOE, which on Saturday also held its central act in Valencia. He has pointed out that in Moncloa “they will be nervous” before this display of muscle and has accused the socialists of “closing themselves” in their actions to “hide” from the street.
Mazón and Catalá also ask to “unite the vote”
Feijóo has not been the only one to call for the concentration of the vote in the PP. youBoth Mazón and Catalá have done the same, although without direct references to any party.
