Lyschko and Drangsal search for the right life in the wrong one in “Foreign”.

Lyschko and tribulation have published a joint piece called “Fremd” – and in it they embark on a search for a little bit of support in a remote world and orientation on a street strewn with will-o’-the-wisps that is called life.

The Spider’s Tormenting Questions

“And this way doesn’t feel right and every way doesn’t feel right / But is there even a right? / Rather not wrong or a little wrong and I try not to be a little wrong,” thinks Lina Holzrichter. Her intonation is borrowed from the Neue Deutsche Welle – but the Lyschko singer does not praise the carefree existence in the capital, like Annette Humpe once did. She doubts whether there can even be a right life in the wrong one. The dark circles of thoughts are preceded by a night spent on the platform. Finally, a black spider appears, which pierces the lyrical I in the chorus (sung Drangsal & Lina Holzrichter) with the tormenting question of what has become of him or her.

Black aesthetic

In terms of sound, Lyschko follow in the footsteps of The Cure. That reference was also illustrated in the music video by director Dan Trautwein: he stages the band members Lina Holzrichter, Jonah Holzrichter and Lukas Korn in baroque robes, which new wave and goth groups adopted as their own in the 80s. Guest musician Drangsal mimics the eight-legged creature mentioned at the beginning.
